| Global Transport Associates Ltd was
established in March 2001 as a consultancy to assist in the development
of the Export Used Truck Programme for Mercedes Benz UK. The company soon
recognized the need for Mercedes Trucks in Africa and in 2005 through a
partnership with David Roberts, started selling trucks directly to several
African Countries. David was formerly the Managing Director of Truckworld
- Enza Motors Used Truck Operation. Alan Hewitt, Truckworld Sales Director
also joined the venture. Between the three partners, there are over 100
years of commercial vehicle experience, a high proportion of which has been
in sales or purchasing of Mercedes Benz vehicles. Peter Fryer, Managing Director of GTA began his career as an Engineering Apprentice with AEC, part of the Leyland Motor Corporation and went on to work for them for a total of 18 years. Peter worked as Production Director for Leyland in Ghana for 7 years and latterly as Regional Export Manager for Africa, supplying 4000 vehicles each year to the African market. Before setting up GTA, Peter worked as European Engineering and Purchasing Director for Ryder PLC, a major US Global Truck Leasing and Rental Corporation. He founded Global Transport Associates Ltd in 2001. His first customer was Mercedes Benz (UK) Ltd. Peter is married to Christine with three grown up children. He is a seasoned yachtsman and enjoys restoring veteran and vintage cars. What We Do GTA provides a tailor made consultancy service of the highest standard to each of our customers. GTA's customers include three of Mercedes Benz's main African importers and we serve export markets across the world and in particular East Africa, Southern Africa and the Middle East.
